Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on if Yoane Wissa’s return will provide a boost: “I think it will be a big boost to the squad to have someone of his experience and quality back in the group.
“We have to be mindful of the length of time he has had out and the lack of training. Normally we’d want to give him more before he goes back on the pitch, but in our situation I’m not sure we have that grace.
“He’s a quality player, we’ve seen that already in training. The transition time to a new team should be less. His fitness and match sharpness is the concern that we have, making sure we enter him at the right time.”
On the forward missing out on AFCON squad for DR Congo: “With the way this season has gone and how he’s been feeling, his priority was to concentrate purely on fitness and have no other distractions or pressures to be fit.
“We are trying to make the right decisions for him on a daily basis, we’ve planned his comeback from a long time out to try get him ready in the quickest time possible. We’re confident we can do that.”
On if Wissa will be in the squad tomorrow: ““I don’t know. Let’s to wait and see.”
