The White House has refused to rule out the possibility of ICE raids and arrests during the 2026 World Cup, despite organizers’ efforts to streamline visa procedures for international fans.
According to a report from EL PAÍS English, the White House failed to rule out potential Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids during the 2026 World Cup.
Andrew Giuliani, White House representative for the FIFA task force, stated:
“The one thing — and I’ve known the president for 25 years — the president has not ruled out anything that will make American citizens safer.”
The tournament organizing team is attempting to streamline visa procedures for ticket buyers.
Giuliani stressed President Trump’s focus on safety and legal entry, adding:
“The president has highlighted that he wants people to legally come to the United States, go through the legal process.”
He affirmed that “Every visa decision is a national security decision first and foremost.” The tightening immigration policies are already set to affect fans from qualified nations like Iran and Haiti.
