Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca voiced his surprise and disappointment over his team’s comprehensive 3-1 loss to Leeds United, attributing the “bad things” in their performance partly to the fatigue from playing with ten men in their previous match against Arsenal.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca admitted he was “very surprised” by his side’s poor 3-1 performance against Leeds United at Elland Road.
Maresca stated he had not seen the players since the match, as they must quickly focus on their next opponent, Bournemouth.
He noted that playing “one hour with ten men against Arsenal” had resulted in fatigue and rotation, making the Leeds away fixture “more complicated.”
While Maresca anticipated the team would “struggle” in some moments due to a demanding schedule, he did not expect the struggle to last “for the entire game.”
He expressed clear disappointment, adding: “I expect more in general.”
The defeat caused Chelsea to drop to fourth place in the Premier League, now trailing leaders Arsenal by nine points.
