Newcastle United secured a narrow victory over 10-man Burnley. Bruno Guimarães scored an incredible goal direct from a corner before Anthony Gordon added a second from the penalty spot after Lucas Pires was sent off for a foul on Anthony Elanga just before the interval.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, Burnley mounted a late charge. Zian Flemming converted a stoppage-time penalty to give his side hope. The visitors almost snatched a point at the death, but Josh Laurent missed a clear headed chance, allowing Newcastle to hang on for the win.
