The swipe came after Garnacho had previously dismissed the Italian club’s recent visibility.
Ahead of the match, Garnacho stated: “The last time I saw Atalanta was two years ago, in the Europa League final they won.” This apparent dismissal sparked anger among the club’s supporters and staff.
Atalanta secured a 2-1 comeback win against Chelsea, with De Ketelaere scoring the decisive goal after Gianluca Scamacca had leveled the score.
Speaking to Sky Italia after the match, the Belgian forward directly referenced Garnacho’s comments.
Delivering a succinct retort that underlined the victory, he declared: “Now he knows who we are.” De Ketelaere stressed the importance of consistency following the crucial win.
