Arne Slot insisted there is “no issue to resolve” with Mohamed Salah and confirmed he intends to utilize the Egyptian forward upon his return from AFCON, despite the player’s recent controversial social media activity and past comments about being benched.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has publicly addressed the future of Mohamed Salah, asserting that there is “no issue to resolve” with the Egyptian star following his return to action against Brighton.
Salah, who was recently omitted from the Champions League squad, posted cryptic footage on social media after the 2-0 win, thanking the Anfield faithful for their support.
The situation stemmed from previous incendiary remarks by Salah after a draw with Leeds United where he criticized his benching, stating:
“I could not believe I was sitting on the bench for 90 minutes… It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus.”
Despite this past fallout, Slot is keen to move forward, confirming the forward’s commitment to the club’s success.
Slot affirmed his readiness to utilize the 33-year-old upon his return from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
“He’s a Liverpool player and when he’s there, I like to use him when we need him,” Slot said. He praised the attacker’s performance as a substitute against Brighton, noting it was the caliber of display the club expects from him.
