Nominees Revealed: All you need to know ahead of 2025 FIFA Best awards

The Best FIFA Football Awards 2025 ceremony will take place in Qatar on December 16, honoring top players, coaches, and goals, with nominees including Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer, Aitana Bonmati, and Declan Rice.

The Best FIFA Football Awards 2025 ceremony is scheduled to take place in Qatar on Tuesday, December 16, ahead of the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final.

The most anticipated prize, the Best Men’s Player, sees Premier League stars Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) and Cole Palmer (Chelsea) compete for the honour.

Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior was the latest recipient of the award, which “does not always go to the same player” as the Ballon D’Or.

The Best Women’s Player category features two-time consecutive winner Aitana Bonmati, who is nominated again.

She faces competition from the England and Arsenal trio of Chloe Kelly, Alessia Russo, and Leah Williamson, as well as four nominees from Chelsea, including former winner Lucy Bronze.

Goalkeeper prizes will also be handed out, with Emiliano Martinez and Alisson Becker among the men’s contenders.Other significant honours include the Puskas Award for the year’s best goal and the Best Coach awards.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice is nominated for the Puskas Award for one of his “stunning free-kicks.”

Mikel Arteta, Enzo Maresca, and Arne Slot are all competing for the Best Men’s Coach, while Sonia Bompastor, Renee Slegers, and Sarina Wiegman are nominated for the women’s equivalent.
