Gary Neville praised Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim for the team’s “real intent” during a chaotic 4-4 draw with Bournemouth, despite criticizing their predictable defensive weaknesses.
Manchester United legend Gary Neville lauded manager Ruben Amorim for displaying true attacking intent following the thrilling 4-4 Premier League draw against Bournemouth.
Neville deemed the performance a “stunning watch,” contrasting the “real intent” shown with previous “bland” displays.
He praised the in-game decision to switch to a 4-4-2, stating Amorim “did the right thing” to generate more threat.
The high-scoring clash, which ended with Eli Junior Kroupi netting the equalizer in the 84th minute, was characterized by wild momentum swings.
Neville captured the dramatic nature of the contest, stating: “The second half was absolute mayhem. Absolute mayhem.”
While pleased with the entertainment, the pundit pointed to the team’s defensive frailty, believing it was “to be expected” given the injury absences in the back line.
Despite failing to secure all three points at Old Trafford, Neville argued the style of play satisfied the supporters.
He noted that unlike previous matches, fans stayed to clap the team, appreciative of the effort. Neville concluded that while winning is vital, the team “got the entertainment bit right” and he “can live with that all day long in terms of the performance.”
