AFCON motivation enough for Nigeria to beat Tunisia, says former Man City midfielder

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru asserts that the Super Eagles are highly motivated and tactically prepared to defeat Tunisia and secure a spot in the AFCON 2025 knockout stages.

Nigeria midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru believes the Super Eagles are fully prepared for their crucial AFCON 2025 encounter against Tunisia this Saturday.

Following a 2-1 opening victory over Tanzania, the three-time African champions aim to secure early qualification for the knockout rounds.

The former Manchester City academy graduate emphasized that the prestige of the tournament itself provides ample inspiration for the squad to perform at their highest level.

The Lazio star, who debuted as a substitute in the opening match, highlighted the internal drive within the camp.

He stated, “I think just being in the Afcon by itself is enough motivation for us to go and try and get the victory tomorrow.”

Dele-Bashiru added, “Of course, it’s an important match for us if you want to finish top of the group, so we’ll do everything we can to get the job done.”

Beyond the points, Nigeria seeks redemption for their 2021 AFCON elimination by the Carthage Eagles.

Head coach Eric Chelle may reward Dele-Bashiru with a starting role following a successful tactical shift to a 4-3-3 formation.

Maintaining focus remains the priority, as Dele-Bashiru noted, “it’s important that we take each game the same way with the same focus, with the same respect for the opposition, and train hard, follow what the coach wants.”
