Luciano Spalletti urges Juventus to stay grounded after Pisa win

Luciano Spalletti criticized Juventus’ slow tempo and reliance on luck following a 2-0 win over Pisa, demanding higher standards as the team moves into the new year.

Juventus head coach Luciano Spalletti issued a stern warning to his squad following their 2-0 victory over Pisa, insisting the team “need to do better” despite a winning end to 2025.

While second-half strikes from Pierre Kalulu and Kenan Yildiz secured the three points, Spalletti was critical of a sluggish start that saw the Bianconeri survive two scares where the hosts struck the woodwork.

The victory marks a significant statistical turnaround under Spalletti, with Juventus securing four consecutive wins and back-to-back away victories for the first time in over a year.

Since his October appointment, the team has averaged 2.1 points per match, a notable jump from the 1.7 average recorded earlier in the season.

Spalletti credited second-half substitutes Edon Zhegrova and Jonathan David for injecting much-needed “quality and invention” into a previously stagnant attack.

Despite the upward trajectory, Spalletti remains focused on consistency and eliminating “below par” periods like the opening 45 minutes in Pisa.

Admitting his side was “fortunate” during intense pressure from the hosts, he emphasized that a club of Juventus’ stature must prove its strength every time it takes the pitch.

The win moves Juventus up to third in Serie A, keeping them within a single point of league leaders Inter Milan.
