Lazio Boss Maurizio Sarri underwent a successful cardiac surgery

Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri is expected to return to work shortly after undergoing a successful, routine heart procedure to address an irregular rhythm.

Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri is recovering following a minor heart operation to treat atrial fibrillation.

The 66-year-old tactician, who is currently in his second stint with the Roman club, underwent what Italian media described as a routine intervention to correct an irregular heart rhythm.

The club has moved to reassure supporters, stating that they expect the veteran coach to return to his technical duties at the training ground within the next few days.

The health scare comes at a critical juncture for Lazio, who currently sit eighth in the Serie A standings after a mixed start to the season.

The Biancocelesti have secured six wins from their opening 17 matches and are preparing for a high-profile encounter against Sarri’s former club, Napoli, this Sunday.

Despite the procedure, the former Chelsea and Juventus manager is not expected to face a prolonged absence from the touchline.

Sarri’s storied career saw him rise from a dual role as a banker and amateur coach to winning the Europa League with Chelsea and a Scudetto with Juventus.

He returned to Lazio in June 2025, a year after resigning from his first tenure.

While there are no direct quotes from the manager regarding the surgery, a club spokesperson confirmed the “routine intervention” went as planned and his recovery remains the immediate priority.
