Everton and David Moyes are awaiting crucial test results on Iliman Ndiaye after the winger was forced off while on international duty with Senegal, adding to a growing list of injury concerns for the Toffees.
Everton have been dealt a significant injury scare involving star winger Iliman Ndiaye, who was withdrawn at half-time during Senegal’s final Africa Cup of Nations group match on Tuesday.
Reports from Morocco indicate the 24-year-old suffered an apparent ankle or muscle issue, with journalist Lee-Roy Kabeya confirming that tests are scheduled for Wednesday to determine the severity.
This development comes as a major blow to David Moyes, who is already managing a severely depleted squad.
The news of Ndiaye’s injury followed a resilient 2-0 Premier League victory for the Toffees over Nottingham Forest, a result achieved despite the absence of several key senior figures.
Charly Alcaraz and Michael Keane were both ruled out shortly before kick-off, joining Jarrad Branthwaite and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on the treatment table.
Moyes admitted his squad is currently “depleted,” relying on young talents like Tyler Dibling to fill the gaps in the senior rotation.
Losing Ndiaye for an extended period would be a devastating setback for Everton’s European aspirations, as the Senegalese international has been a vital creative spark this season.
Beyond the immediate fitness concerns, the club is also reportedly wary of mounting transfer interest in the winger ahead of the summer window.
For now, the Toffees must “keep everything crossed” that Ndiaye’s withdrawal was merely precautionary and that he can return to Merseyside fully fit.
