Roberto Carlos denies heart attack rumors after emergency surgery

Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos is recovering in a Brazilian hospital after successful emergency heart surgery and has released a statement to debunk false reports of a heart attack.

Real Madrid and Brazil legend Roberto Carlos has undergone emergency surgery in his homeland to address a heart complication.

The 52-year-old originally sought medical attention for a blood clot in his leg following a busy schedule at the 2026 World Cup draw.

However, a full-body MRI scan revealed a more serious heart issue, leading to a three-hour procedure to fit a medical tube after the operation faced unexpected complications.

Despite the intensity of the surgery, the iconic left-back took to social media to dispel viral rumors regarding the severity of his condition.

Carlos was quick to reassure his global fanbase that he had not suffered a cardiac arrest.

He posted on Instagram: “I would like to clarify recent information that has been circling… I did not suffer a heart attack. I am recovering well, and looking forward to returning to full fitness.”

The Brazilian icon remains under observation for 48 hours but is expected to make a full recovery.

Carlos, a three-time Champions League winner and 2002 World Cup champion, expressed deep gratitude to his medical team and supporters.

He concluded his update by stating, “I would like to reassure everyone that there is no cause for concern,” as he prepares to return to his professional commitments later this year.
