Brennan Johnson £35m completes club-record Crystal Palace move

Crystal Palace have shattered their transfer record to sign Tottenham winger Brennan Johnson for £35 million on a deal running through 2030.

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur for a club-record fee of £35 million.

The deal surpasses the previous record of £27 million paid for Christian Benteke in 2016. The Welsh winger has committed to a four-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at Selhurst Park until June 2030.

Johnson, who will wear the No. 11 shirt, is expected to make his debut against Newcastle United this Sunday.

The 24-year-old leaves Tottenham after a historic stint where he recorded 27 goals and 18 assists across 106 appearances.

Most notably, he scored the winning goal in last year’s Europa League final to end the club’s long trophy drought.

Reflecting on the move, Johnson stated: “I’m really excited and I’m really happy. Crystal Palace are such a great club, one that I’ve always admired.”

Manager Oliver Glasner praised the club’s efficiency in securing the window’s first signing so early in January.

The Eagles reportedly beat out competition from Aston Villa and Bournemouth for the attacker’s signature.

Glasner noted the tactical benefits of the move, saying: “Brennan will give us options in our attacking play with his pace and goalscoring ability, and with all the upcoming games he will be a valuable addition to the squad.”
