Ole Gunnar Solskjaer set for talks with Manchester United over interim Manager role

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is meeting with Manchester United officials on Saturday to discuss returning to the club as interim manager following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is scheduled to hold face-to-face talks with Manchester United leadership on Saturday regarding the club’s vacant interim manager position.

The Premier League giants are searching for a temporary appointment to lead the team through the remainder of the season following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim.

Amorim’s 14-month tenure was ended on Monday after a string of underwhelming results left the club seeking a change in direction.

The Norwegian legend, who famously secured the treble in 1999, is a top contender alongside former teammate Michael Carrick.

While Ruud van Nistelrooy and Darren Fletcher were initially considered, Solskjaer and Carrick have emerged as the primary candidates.

Solskjaer previously managed the club from 2018 to 2021, famously stepping in as an interim after Jose Mourinho’s departure before earning the permanent role and a second-place league finish.

Director of Football Jason Wilcox and CEO Omar Berrada will lead the discussions on Saturday following preliminary negotiations.

The appointment comes at a critical juncture, with United set to face Brighton in the FA Cup third round on Sunday followed by a high-stakes Manchester Derby next weekend.

The club is hopeful that a familiar face can stabilize the squad and improve form after a turbulent start to the year.
