Lucas Paquetá has moved a significant step closer to a West Ham United exit after reaching an agreement on personal terms with Flamengo, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano and Jacob Steinberg.
Despite the midfielder being a vital asset for Nuno Espírito Santo’s side in their battle against relegation, the 28-year-old is reportedly “pushing to make it happen” and recently asked to be omitted from the Hammers’ clash against QPR.
While Flamengo are prepared to offer approximately £35.8 million (€40m) to bring the Brazilian back to his homeland, West Ham remain “reluctant to sanction a January sale” for a player contracted until 2027.
However, with the club facing financial pressure and the player struggling for form following previous betting allegations, a deal may be reached this month as “Paquetá wants to return to Brazil and talks are now ongoing with West Ham.”
