The FIFA World Cup Trophy arrived in Seoul on Friday as part of a global tour spanning 75 cities ahead of the 2026 tournament, marked by a star-studded press event featuring Brazilian winner Gilberto Silva and South Korean icons including Cha Bum-kun and Lee Young-pyo.
During the unveiling at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall, the legendary Cha Bum-kun reflected on the significance of the prize, stating, “I feel bittersweet seeing the trophy.
It’s something you want but can’t easily have, yet it gives you hope,” while Gilberto Silva expressed optimism for the host nation’s footballing future, noting, “Personally, seeing Brazil and Korea face each other in the final would be very special.”
The event celebrates South Korea’s record-breaking achievement of qualifying for 11 consecutive World Cups, with a public exhibition scheduled for Saturday before the trophy continues its journey across 30 member countries.
