Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has dismissed recent disparaging remarks made by former captain Roy Keane regarding his wife, Lisa, asserting that such external commentary will not distract from his new role.
During a recent appearance on The Overlap podcast, Keane referred to Lisa Carrick as having a “big mouth,” an apparent reference to a 2013 social media exchange following Keane’s criticism of Carrick’s on-field performance.
Addressing the media in his first press conference since succeeding Ruben Amorim, Carrick insisted the comments were “totally irrelevant” to his objectives at Old Trafford.
“It didn’t bother me,” Carrick stated, further noting that the opinions of former colleagues “are not putting more pressure on me.”
The head coach emphasized that his priority remains the squad’s development and upcoming Manchester derby, concluding, “For me, the players and staff, it’s a focus on how we’re going to succeed.”
