Lisandro Martínez has publicly challenged Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt, dismissing their television critiques as “talk” and inviting the Manchester United legends to voice their concerns to his face.
Manchester United center-back Lisandro Martínez has issued a scathing response to club legends Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt following their televised remarks regarding his physical stature in the Premier League.
The Argentine international, known for his combative style, challenged the validity of the pundits’ critiques, suggesting that former players should be more direct if they intend to provide constructive feedback.
Dismissing the “small” narrative that has followed him since his arrival in England, Martínez invited Scholes to address him personally, stating, “I told him (Scholes) already, if he wants to say something to me, he can come to me wherever he wants. To my house, wherever.”
The defender further questioned the motives of ex-players who air grievances through media channels rather than within the club’s training ground, adding,
“And I respect the relations when they want to help the club because everyone can talk on the television but when you see [them] here face to face, no one says anything in your face.
So for me, I don’t really care what they say.” Despite the ongoing debate over his height, Martínez remains a central figure in the United backline as the club navigates a turbulent transition under interim management.
