Tottenham Hotspur have initiated formal discussions with Liverpool to sign veteran left-back Andy Robertson as the 31-year-old enters the final months of his contract at Anfield.
Despite Liverpool head coach Arne Slot describing the Scotland captain as “important” to the squad and praising his professionalism after losing his starting spot to Milos Kerkez, Robertson has started only four Premier League matches this season and is reportedly seeking regular playing time ahead of the World Cup.
Spurs manager Thomas Frank appears to be targeting Robertson’s trophy-laden experience to bolster a youthful defensive unit following a season-ending injury to Ben Davies, even as the North London club recently finalized the signing of Brazilian defender Souza.
