Liverpool have decided to block Andy Robertson’s potential move to Tottenham Hotspur after previously agreeing to a £5 million deal in principle.
The transfer was contingent on the Reds successfully recalling Kostas Tsimikas from his loan spell at AS Roma—an effort that has proved unsuccessful—and was further derailed by a fresh injury to Joe Gomez during Saturday’s loss to Bournemouth.
While Robertson is reportedly eager for regular minutes ahead of the World Cup this summer, the 31-year-old was not forcing an exit from the club where he has won nine trophies.
Despite Robertson being out of contract this summer, Liverpool have determined they are currently “not able to proceed” with the sale due to their own deepening defensive crisis, ensuring the veteran left-back remains at Anfield for the final months of his historic tenure.
