Antonio Conte suggests turning international midfielder to a striker

Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti has sparked tactical debate by claiming USMNT star Weston McKennie “would be a perfect striker” following the Bianconeri’s 3-0 triumph over Napoli.

While praising McKennie’s “impressive leap” and fighting spirit, Spalletti offered a candid critique of actual goalscorer Jonathan David, comparing his hold-up play unfavourably to Napoli’s Rasmus Højlund.

Despite David’s clinical finish, the Juventus boss insisted to DAZN that the team still lacks a physical focal point, stating, “We don’t need a striker to score goals, but for that kind of job. David is very strong, but he can’t do that kind of job.”

Spalletti concluded that while David’s scoring keeps the team’s “heads above the water,” he remains eager for a striker who can battle center-backs and make direct play “playable” to achieve tactical perfection.
