Barcelona president Joan Laporta and head coach Hansi Flick have addressed the departure of 18-year-old talent Dro Fernandez to Paris Saint-Germain, with Flick using Marcus Rashford’s professional attitude as a benchmark for the club’s academy.
Fernandez finalized his move to the French capital after activating a £5.1 million release clause, a decision Laporta described as an “unpleasant situation” following a breakdown in contract negotiations with the player’s agent.
Flick, visibly frustrated by the teenager’s exit, contrasted the situation with the dedication shown by Rashford during his loan spell from Manchester United, urging La Masia graduates to emulate the Englishman’s passion.
Flick stated, “If you want to play with Barca, then it has to be 100% with your whole heart… These colours, you have to live for them. All the others, I don’t want.”
While Fernandez expressed his “huge pride” in joining PSG, Barcelona officials remain hopeful of securing Rashford on a permanent basis following his impressive displays in Spain.
