Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva has hinted that he may leave the club when his contract expires this summer, despite Pep Guardiola’s public plea for the legendary midfielder to stay.
Manchester City captain Bernardo Silva has suggested his illustrious nine-year tenure at the Etihad Stadium may be nearing its conclusion.
Following Wednesday’s 2-0 Champions League win over Galatasaray, the 31-year-old midfielder addressed his future as his contract approaches its June expiry.
Reflecting on his time in Manchester, Silva said: “Until the end I’m going to be here fighting for the club and for the fans.”
Pep Guardiola has expressed a strong desire to retain the Portuguese international, though he acknowledged that “Bernardo has to decide the best for him” and his family.
Since joining in 2017, Silva has secured 15 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League.
He is currently eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs as speculation regarding a summer departure intensifies.
