Bayern Munich director Christoph Freund has confirmed that midfielder Leon Goretzka will leave the club as a free agent this summer, ending an eight-year tenure in Bavaria.

Despite speculation regarding a mid-season move, the German international will remain at the Allianz Arena for the remainder of the campaign.
Sporting director Christoph Freund officially confirmed the decision, marking the end of a highly decorated chapter that spanned nearly a decade.
The club plans to utilize Goretzka’s experience for their upcoming title charge before his summer exit. “Leon’s time at FC Bayern will be over in the summer.
He will go another way after 8 successful years. We’ll fight together in coming months to achieve big things,” confirms director Freund.
The midfielder leaves behind a significant legacy, having been a central figure in Bayern’s domestic and European dominance since 2018.
