Eni Aluko has accused Ian Wright of being disrespectful for refusing to accept her apology following a public feud over the prominence of male pundits in women’s football coverage.
Former England international Eni Aluko has reignited her public dispute with Ian Wright, accusing the Arsenal legend of “disrespect” after he reportedly refused her apology.
Aluko had previously criticized broadcasters for using male pundits like Wright for women’s football finals over highly-capped female players.
Despite reaching out both publicly and privately to mend the relationship, Aluko claims Wright has failed to show “allyship.”
The fallout escalated on social media, where Aluko expressed disappointment over the lack of a resolution nine months later.
Broadcaster Laura Woods also joined the fray, defending Wright and arguing that punditry roles should be based on communication skills rather than caps.
Aluko stated: “Unfortunately, my sincerity, my humility, was met with disrespect. When I apologised to Ian Wright publicly and privately he had an opportunity to show the grace.”
