Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey accused of two fresh counts of rape

Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey has been hit with two additional counts of rape, bringing his total charges to seven as he prepares for a new court hearing in London next month.

Villarreal midfielder Thomas Partey is facing two fresh counts of rape in the United Kingdom, adding to five existing charges of rape and two of sexual assault.

The new allegations, filed by a third victim, relate to an independent investigation from 2020 and are separate from his ongoing legal proceedings.

The 32-year-old Ghanaian international, who joined Villarreal last summer following his departure from Arsenal, has been summoned to provide pleas at a London court on Friday, March 13.

While Villarreal has not commented on the latest charges, the club has previously maintained a stance of supporting the player until a verdict is reached.

However, Partey’s performances in Spain have been lackluster, with manager Marcelino Garcia Toral admitting it is “very difficult to play” at the necessary pace amid the player’s poor form.

Regarding their legal position, Villarreal previously stated: “The club respects the fundamental principle of the presumption of innocence and will await the outcome of the judicial process.”
