Hull City and Chelsea managers have condemned homophobic chanting that occurred during Friday night’s FA Cup clash, resulting in multiple arrests at the MKM Stadium.
Hull City’s 4-0 FA Cup defeat to Chelsea was marred by discriminatory behavior, leading to several arrests after police reviewed internal CCTV.
Stadium announcer Steve Jordan issued multiple warnings to the sold-out crowd as the club took firm action against offenders.
Chelsea Pride labeled the incident a “stain on our game,” praising the club’s quick response in identifying those responsible for the homophobic chants.
Managers Sergej Jakirovic and Liam Rosenior both condemned the abuse after being alerted by officials.
Jakirovic stated, “The stadium is not a place for that, and this is the reason why they have been arrested.”
Rosenior, returning to his former club, added that “any discriminatory language is unacceptable.”
Both clubs and Humberside Police are continuing investigations into the conduct of the minority involved.
