Despite head coach Gregg Berhalter viewing the Polish striker as the face of their ambitious “superclub” project, Lewandowski’s priority remains staying at Barcelona.
Experts suggest a move to the United States will only be considered if the Catalan giants decline to offer him a new deal.
If an agreement with Barcelona is not reached, Lewandowski may favor a move to Italy over Saudi Arabia or the MLS.
Former US international Janusz Michallik noted that “if FC Barcelona offer Robert a contract for next season, there will be no discussion.”
While Chicago is “100% committed to his hiring,” a decision likely hinges on whether Barcelona requests the forward to take a pay cut.
