Agent reveals Man United and Chelsea made approach for German boss

Marc Kosicke claims Manchester United and Chelsea approached Jürgen Klopp after he left Liverpool, though the German remains committed to his executive role at Red Bull.

Jürgen Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, has claimed that Manchester United and Chelsea both reached out to the former Liverpool manager following his emotional exit from Anfield.

In an interview with Transfermarkt, Kosicke revealed that despite Klopp’s firm vow never to manage another English club, the Premier League giants made informal inquiries. Both clubs have since denied these claims, according to reports from the Press Association.

The 58-year-old German is currently serving as the Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull, a strategic role he began in January 2025.

Kosicke also noted that Klopp turned down opportunities to lead the national teams of England and the United States before taking the executive position.

Reflecting on his client’s current status, Kosicke stated: “Maybe at some point he’ll say he needs to smell the locker room again. But at the moment he’s very, very happy in his role.”
