The French captain claimed he heard the Argentine winger direct slurs at Vinícius Júnior five times during a second-half confrontation.
The match was suspended for ten minutes as referee François Letexier activated UEFA’s anti-racism protocol, overshadowing the narrow playoff win.
Speaking after the match, Mbappé insisted that individual conduct must face severe consequences to set an example for future generations.
While Benfica manager José Mourinho defended his player, Mbappé remained adamant about the severity of the incident.
He stated, “This guy doesn’t deserve to play in the Champions League anymore,” adding that the team would always stand by Vinícius, emphasizing that some things are more important than football results.
