Cristiano Ronaldo has quelled rumors of a departure from Al-Nassr by declaring his loyalty to Saudi Arabia following a dominant 4-0 win over Al-Hazem on Saturday.
Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo has firmly rejected speculation regarding a summer exit, asserting, “I belong to Saudi Arabia. I want to continue here.”
The Portuguese icon’s comments follow a brief period of tension where he reportedly staged a strike to protest a perceived lack of transfer ambition by the club’s management.
However, after leading his side to a 4-0 thrashing of Al-Hazem on Saturday, the 41-year-old expressed deep gratitude for the country’s welcome of his family and friends.
The victory, fueled by a clinical brace from Ronaldo and additional goals from Kingsley Coman and Ângelo Gabriel, propelled Al-Nassr to the top of the Saudi Pro League standings.
Ronaldo’s return to form and public commitment mark a significant turning point after his recent dissatisfaction with the Public Investment Fund’s (PIF) management.
“It’s a country that welcomed me, as well as my family and friends,” Ronaldo stated via journalist Fabrizio Romano. “I’m happy here and want to continue here.”
The legendary forward is now closing in on a historic 1,000-goal milestone, with his latest double taking his professional tally to 964 career goals.
Al-Nassr’s resurgence has been bolstered by the summer additions of João Félix and Kingsley Coman, aligning with the ambition Ronaldo previously demanded.
As the league enters a decisive phase, Ronaldo’s pledge of loyalty provides a massive boost to Jorge Jesus’ side in their pursuit of domestic dominance over rivals Al-Hilal.
