Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has advised Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze to drop deeper to influence matches after observing the midfielder struggle with high positioning against Tottenham.
Rio Ferdinand has urged Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze to adjust his starting position to become more influential during matches.
Despite Eze scoring against Tottenham, Ferdinand felt the midfielder remained too isolated for long periods.
Ferdinand noted: “I just think his actual starting position is too high. I know he’s doing that to pin back the Spurs backline… but it’s actually going against him.”
The pundit believes Eze is most dangerous when dropping deep to dictate play and engage defenders directly.
Suggesting a more proactive approach, Ferdinand explained: “Eze needs to face the game. He needs to see the game, face it and start probing.”
He argued that playing one-twos and drawing opponents out of position would allow the England international to truly dominate.
