Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 25% stake in Spanish second-tier side UD Almería, marking his first venture into professional football ownership through his newly formed CR7 Sports Investments.
Cristiano Ronaldo has officially moved into club ownership after purchasing a 25 per cent stake in Spanish side UD Almería.
The deal was completed through CR7 Sports Investments, a subsidiary of his wider business group, CR7 SA.
“It has been a long-held ambition of mine to contribute to football beyond the pitch,” Ronaldo stated. He praised Almería as a club with “strong foundations and clear potential for growth,” as they currently push for promotion.
The 41-year-old Al-Nassr forward, recently confirmed as football’s first billionaire with a net worth of $1.4 billion, finalized the agreement with majority owner Mohamed Al-Khereiji.
While financial terms were not disclosed, the move integrates Ronaldo into a Saudi-backed sporting ecosystem.
Al-Khereiji welcomed the investment, noting that Ronaldo “knows the Spanish leagues very well and he understands the potential of what we are building here both in terms of the team and the academy.”
