Michael Carrick has confirmed that Manchester United will be without Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, and Patrick Dorgu for their crucial away fixture against Newcastle.
Manchester United interim head coach Michael Carrick has ruled out four key players for Wednesday’s Premier League clash at St James’ Park.
Mason Mount, who has only appeared once under Carrick, remains sidelined alongside Patrick Dorgu, Lisandro Martinez, and Matthijs de Ligt.
Regarding Mount’s recovery, Carrick noted, “Mason as well, he’s getting a bit closer, so unfortunately it’s part of the game.”
The defensive crisis deepens as Lisandro Martinez remains “not quite ready” following a calf injury, while De Ligt continues to struggle with a long-term back issue.
Despite these absences, Carrick remains focused on the available squad.
“There’s always going to be people out… but we’ll keep working as hard as we can to get them back,” he stated, emphasizing resilience during United’s top-four pursuit.
