FIFA President Gianni Infantino remains optimistic about the upcoming 2026 World Cup, dismissing growing geopolitical tensions and security concerns in host nations as he prepares for the tournament.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has brushed off growing concerns over the World Cup, insisting it will be a “total party,” despite the ongoing war in the Middle East.
Escalating tensions and logistical challenges have raised questions about the tournament’s viability. Yet, the president remains unconcerned, stating:
“The World Cup is going to be fantastic, phenomenal. There’s unprecedented excitement in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.”
Beyond the Middle East, security concerns persist regarding drug cartel violence in Mexico.
However, Infantino remains confident in the safety measures being implemented for the summer event. Regarding these preparations, he told AFP: “Very reassured, everything’s good. It’s going to be spectacular.”
With 93 days until kickoff, FIFA continues to prioritize the tournament’s massive scale and record-breaking ticket interest over current global instability.
