Barcelona secures licence for Spotify Camp Nou capacity expansion

FC Barcelona has received authorization to open the first and second tiers of the North Stand at Spotify Camp Nou, increasing the stadium’s capacity to 62,657 spectators.

Barcelona has obtained the 1C licence from the City Council, allowing the club to open the first and second tiers of the Gol Nord at Spotify Camp Nou this Sunday.

The approval, which arrived earlier today after earlier administrative obstacles, increases the stadium’s capacity from 45,401 to 62,657 seats in time for the La Liga match against Sevilla.

The expanded capacity coincides with the club’s presidential elections, which officials hope will boost voter turnout among members.

Regarding the renovation’s broader impact, the club noted: “The team’s return to the Camp Nou under coach Hansi Flick has already had a strong social, economic, and institutional impact on the club.”

Further details regarding the supporters’ cheering section remain under review.
