UEFA has officially confirmed that Ibrahima Konate’s 73rd-minute goal during Liverpool’s Champions League defeat to Galatasaray was disallowed for a handball.
A technical statement clarified: “73′ Decision overturned: Goal disallowed. Liverpool player, No5, directly scored the goal with his right arm.”
Former referee Mark Clattenburg supported the call, noting that while the contact was accidental, the laws mandate the goal be cancelled.
Manager Arne Slot expressed frustration with the officiating in Istanbul, questioning the consistency of fouls awarded to the home side.
