Former England youth international goalkeeper Amy Carr has passed away at age 35 following an eleven-year battle with a high-grade brain tumour, leaving a legacy of prolific charitable fundraising.
Tributes have flooded in for former England youth international Amy Carr, who died aged 35 after battling brain cancer since 2015.
The goalkeeper, who represented Arsenal, Chelsea, and Reading, was diagnosed with a grade four astrocytoma after a fainting episode.
Brain Tumour Research confirmed her passing, stating, “Amy showed incredible strength and determination after being diagnosed with a high-grade brain tumour in 2015.”
Carr became a prominent advocate for cancer research, recently raising over £28,000 by completing the 2024 Dublin Marathon despite her terminal prognosis.
Her condition worsened late last year after the tumour regrew, leading to a terminal diagnosis in August.
“We are so grateful for the awareness she raised and the difference she made,” the charity added, honoring her decade-long fight against the disease.
