Reece James commits future to Chelsea with new six-year contract extension

Chelsea captain Reece James has signed a new six-year contract at Stamford Bridge, securing his future with his boyhood club until 2032 as he enters the prime of his career.

Chelsea academy graduate Reece James has solidified his commitment to the Blues by signing a fresh six-year deal.

The 26-year-old skipper, who joined the club at age six, expressed his desire to spend his “peak years” at Stamford Bridge.

“I truly believe we have everything it takes to build on our previous successes,” James noted in a club statement, following the announcement that keeps him in West London until June 2032.

Sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart hailed the defender as the “leader of this team, both on and off the pitch.”

Having won five major trophies including the Champions League, James has overcome recent injury struggles to make 35 appearances this season under manager Liam Rosenior.

The extension aligns James with the club’s incentivized wage structure as he prepares to lead England’s defense under Thomas Tuchel at the 2026 World Cup.
