Police probe Everton away end ‘altercation’ at Arsenal amid Thierno Barry claims

Metropolitan and Merseyside Police are investigating an “altercation” involving supporters in the away end during Everton’s match at Arsenal after claims surfaced that guests of striker Thierno Barry were targeted.

Police and Everton FC are investigating a violent altercation in the away end at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Footage shared by Blues forward Thierno Barry allegedly shows a group being targeted by supporters during the 2-0 defeat.

Barry stated his friends were “escorted by the Arsenal club’s security staff as well as the police because of fears of retaliation from our supporters” after being attacked.

Merseyside and Metropolitan Police are reviewing online footage to establish if Arsenal fans were present in the Everton section.

Everton condemned the scenes, stating, “Violent or disorderly behaviour is completely unacceptable and has no place in football.”

The club is working with authorities to identify those involved, while Barry emphasized that “Football should be a place where everyone feels safe and respected.”
