Wayne Rooney has warned Arsenal to carefully manage the development of 16-year-old Max Dowman following his record-breaking goal against Everton.
Wayne Rooney has cautioned Arsenal against overusing teenage sensation Max Dowman during the Premier League title run-in.
The 16-year-old became the league’s youngest-ever scorer in a 2-0 win over Everton, helping the Gunners move nine points clear.
Despite the hype, Rooney noted: ‘He has got his GCSEs and his education, I’m sure for him and his family, that’s important as well.’
The former England captain praised Dowman’s composure but suggested school commitments might limit his immediate availability.
Arsenal remain on course for a quadruple, with Viktor Gyokeres also hailing the youngster’s maturity. Rooney added: ‘He seems, from the games I’ve watched, to not let that pressure affect him.’
