Joan Laporta has been re-elected as Barcelona president until 2031 after securing a dominant 68 percent of the vote against challenger Victor Font.
Joan Laporta secured a resounding victory in Barcelona’s presidential election, defeating Victor Font with 68 percent of the vote to remain in power until 2031.
Addressing supporters at the Camp Nou, a bullish Laporta declared: “This result is resounding and gives us great strength, so much so that it makes us unstoppable.
Nobody will stop us; we will continue to defend Barça against everyone.”
The 63-year-old incumbent promised fans that “exciting years are coming, and they will be the best years of our lives.”
A disappointed Victor Font quickly conceded, stating: “We are saddened because we were very excited about transforming the club and bringing it closer to its fans. It’s a shame.”
Laporta now begins a fresh five-year mandate aimed at maintaining the club’s dominance.
