The striker was forced off after a heavy collision with James Milner, sparking concerns over his availability for upcoming fixtures.
However, Slot downplayed the severity, stating, “Hugo could play tomorrow if he had to,” while confirming the injury was merely a painful dead leg.
The injury was a significant blow during the match, as Liverpool were already missing Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker.
Slot admitted the early substitution was “not helpful” for a team struggling with consistency after midweek European commitments.
“It was bad enough to not be able to continue and it’s a big blow for him, and in the end was a big blow for us too,” Slot added.
