Moyes demands clarity after Chelsea escape points deduction

Everton manager questions Premier League’s Inconsistent Financial Punishments

LIVERPOOL — Everton manager David Moyes has called for clarity after Chelsea avoided a points deduction for historical financial breaches that saw his own club docked eight points during the 2023-24 season. Chelsea received a suspended one-year transfer ban and a £10 million fine on March 16 for incomplete financial reporting under Roman Abramovich.

Moyes questioned the inconsistency in punishment, noting Everton’s two separate points deductions for PSR breaches. The Chelsea charges date back a decade and did not affect Premier League profitability and sustainability compliance, while Everton were penalized during active campaigns. Moyes said the discrepancy requires explanation from league authorities.
