A 63-year-old man has been arrested for assault and racial abuse following an incident in Richmond where two Brentford players attempted to intervene.
A 63-year-old man was arrested Tuesday morning following an alleged assault in Richmond, west London.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the charges include common assault, attempted criminal damage, and a racially aggravated public order offence.
The incident occurred early Sunday, March 22, shortly after Brentford’s goalless draw against Leeds United.
Authorities identified a second victim who was subjected to racially aggravated verbal abuse during the encounter.
Two Brentford players reportedly attempted to intervene during the confrontation to assist the victims.
While the Metropolitan Police confirmed the victim of the alleged assault was not physically injured, the club has currently declined to comment on the matter.
Brentford, holding seventh place in the Premier League, are scheduled to return to action against Everton at the Gtech Community Stadium on April 11.
