Cristiano Ronaldo is sidelined from Portugal’s upcoming friendlies due to a hamstring injury but remains optimistic about recovering in time for the 2026 World Cup.
Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Portugal’s international friendlies against Mexico and the United States after sustaining a hamstring injury.
The 41-year-old Al-Nassr forward has been out of action since February, undergoing private rehabilitation to ensure fitness for this summer’s tournament.
Despite the setback, Ronaldo shared a recovery update on Instagram, reassuring his global fanbase by stating he is “getting better every day.”
Portugal manager Roberto Martinez played down fears regarding his captain’s availability for the World Cup in North America.
Confirming the veteran’s status, Martinez noted, “No, he’s not in danger. It’s a minor muscle injury. Everything Cristiano has done physically this season shows that he’s in great shape.”
The 226-time capped international has confirmed that the 2026 edition will be his sixth and final World Cup.
