Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that midfielder Eberechi Eze remains sidelined for tonight’s FA Cup tie against Southampton while hitting back at claims the club exaggerated injuries to avoid international duty.
Eberechi Eze will miss Arsenal’s FA Cup trip to St Mary’s as he continues to struggle with a calf injury sustained in March.
The £67.5 million signing has missed the Carabao Cup final and recent England friendlies, leaving his return date uncertain.
Addressing the star’s status, Arteta admitted: “Ebs is out. With Ebs I cannot put a finger [on how long he’ll be out].”
Arteta also dismissed skepticism regarding the high number of Arsenal players who withdrew from international squads.
He insisted the club maintains honest communication with managers like Thomas Tuchel, emphasizing that medical staff make the final calls.
Defending the club’s integrity, Arteta stated: “When you have to communicate the state and the moment of every player, we are always very honest.”
