Manchester City sets new FA Cup record with dominant victory over Liverpool

Erling Haaland’s clinical treble powered Manchester City to a 4-0 win over Liverpool, securing an unprecedented eighth consecutive FA Cup semi-final appearance and setting a new competition record for successive home victories.

Manchester City made history on Saturday with an 18th straight FA Cup home win, surpassing a 145-year-old record previously held by Clapham Rovers.

Erling Haaland’s hat-trick and an Antoine Semenyo strike dismantled Liverpool at the Etihad, extending City’s unbeaten home run in the competition to nine years.

The result ensures Pep Guardiola’s side reaches the semi-finals for a record-breaking eighth season running.

The victory also marked City’s 32nd consecutive FA Cup win in matches played outside of Wembley.

Guardiola’s relentless squad has now won seven FA Cup titles in total, including two during his tenure.

Reflecting on the team’s tactical dominance and consistency, the club noted: “This latest record demonstrates City’s relentless desire to go as deep as possible in every competition available to us.”
