Mina Bonino, wife of Real Madrid’s Federico Valverde, publicly mocked the referee’s decision to rescind a red card for Barcelona’s Gerard Martin during their 2-1 win against Atlético Madrid.
Mina Bonino, wife of Real Madrid star Federico Valverde, has sparked social media controversy by mocking a pivotal VAR decision during Barcelona’s 2-1 victory over Atlético Madrid.
The incident occurred early in the second half when Barça defender Gerard Martin saw a straight red card for a challenge on Tiago Almada.
However, the referee downgraded the punishment to a yellow card after a video review.
The reversal drew immediate criticism from Bonino, who posted her reaction to the officiating on Instagram.
Referencing the decision not to dismiss Martin while Atlético were already playing with ten men, she wrote: “The stadium should be closed if that’s not a red card,” accompanied by a laughing emoji.
Barcelona’s win moves them seven points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.
